Table lamps sit on a surface — a side table, console, or dresser — and are best for task lighting and ambient layering. Floor lamps stand independently and work well in corners or beside seating to add height and fill a room with light. Both can serve as a focal point depending on the shade and base design.
For table lamps, the shade width should generally be no wider than the surface it sits on, and the bottom of the shade should sit at eye level when seated — typically 58 to 64 inches from the floor combined with the table height. For floor lamps, a total height of 58 to 64 inches works well beside most sofas and armchairs. Dimensions are listed in the product specifications above.
No. All of our table lamps and floor lamps are plug-in fixtures — simply plug into a standard US wall outlet and they are ready to use. No hardwiring or electrician is required.
Dimmability depends on the specific fixture — please refer to the product specifications above. Where dimming is supported, you will need a dimmable LED bulb and either an in-line dimmer cord or a compatible wall dimmer switch. Using a non-dimmable bulb in a dimmable socket can cause flickering.
Bulb type, base size, and maximum wattage are listed in the product specifications. Unless noted otherwise, bulbs are not included. We recommend warm white LED bulbs in the 2700K to 3000K range for the most flattering and energy-efficient result.
