What size do I need, and how high should it go?

As a guide, choose a light about one quarter to one third the height of the door it sits beside. Mount it around 66 in (168 cm) from the ground, or just above eye level.

Do I need an electrician?

For hardwired lights, yes. They connect to your exterior wiring, so we recommend installation by a licensed electrician, who'll also make sure the connection is properly sealed against the weather. Solar lights don't need wiring or an electrician.

Before replacing our old patio light, I hadn't noticed how dated it looked alongside the rest of the exterior. This has a cleaner modern appearance, but the two heads stop it feeling completely anonymous. We kept the surrounding wall fairly simple, which seems to work nicely with the shape. I also liked the aluminium construction when choosing it. It's not a whole outdoor makeover by itself, but it has improved a detail we see every day. Overall, pleased with the way it fits into the space.
