What size do I need, and how high should it go?

Beside the front door this looks lovely. I prefer the frosted glass to a completely clear shade.

Lovely lantern for our porch.

My main priority was finding something that looked good with the light switched off as well as on. The porch gets plenty of daylight, so the fitting itself mattered to me. This has a classic outline and enough detail to feel intentional without looking elaborate. I like the contrast between the black frame and frosted glass. It works well with the fairly simple surroundings, and the doorway feels less unfinished now. Several small updates together improved that area, we're pleased with how it has come together.

Compared with our previous fitting, this has much more personality. I like the retro appearance and the fact that the glass isn't completely clear. We kept the surrounding wall simple, which lets the lantern stand out without competing with other details.

Finally changed the dated outside light. Should of done it sooner, this suits the doorway much better.

After browsing lots of modern outdoor lights, I realised a lantern would suit our house better. This has the character I was looking for without an elaborate design. The black finish works well beside the door, and the frosted glass is a lovely detail.

Having spent a while looking for a porch light, I kept ruling out designs that felt too modern for the house. This lantern had a more appropriate character. The black frame gives it definition against the wall, while the frosted glass keeps the appearance from feeling too stark. I like that it looks interesting during the day rather than relying entirely on being illuminated. Our electrician handled the installation, so I can't comment much on that side of it. Visually though, it feels like a good fit and makes the doorway look more complete.
