Where and how high should it be mounted?

Living areas and hallways: mount around 60 to 66 in (152 to 168 cm) from the floor, roughly eye level when standing. Along a hallway, space lights about 8 to 10 ft (2.4 to 3 m) apart. In narrow halls, choose a slim light that sits about 4 in (10 cm) or less from the wall.

Beside a bed: mount it so the light sits just above shoulder height when you're sitting up, for reading without glare.

Is it hardwired or plug-in?

Initially I wondered whether an industrial light would feel too stark in our sitting room. With the timber furniture and warm bulb we selected, it works nicely. The glass keeps the design from looking too heavy.

I chose a tube version for the wall beside our sitting area. There wasn't much width to work with, and that shape seemed more suitable than a globe. The metal and glass combination also works with a few details elsewhere in the room. We had an electrician fit it and selected a warm E26 bulb separately. The grille gives the fitting some interest without making it feel too elaborate. It's an additional light for that corner rather than our main room lighting. Happy with both the shape and the overall appearance.
