Defined by its broad, layered silhouette, this modern drum pendant light combines crisp metal forms with the natural warmth of wood. A series of stepped circular elements creates depth through the centre of the fixture, while the contrasting timber band gives the design a warmer, more residential character than a conventional all-metal pendant.

At 40 cm in diameter, the pendant has enough presence to become a focal point without overwhelming the surrounding space. Its low, horizontal proportions work particularly well above dining tables, kitchen islands and breakfast areas, while the layered profile remains visually interesting from both across the room and directly beneath the fixture.

Pendant Light FAQ

Over a kitchen island or dining table, hang the bottom of the pendant 30 to 36 inches above the surface. In open living areas where people will be walking beneath, the bottom should clear at least 7 feet from the floor. For bedside pendants, the bottom of the shade typically sits at around 24 to 28 inches above the mattress. Cord and chain lengths are listed in the product specifications above.

Most of our pendant lights include adjustable cord or chain that can be shortened at the time of installation. The maximum drop length is listed in the product specifications above. If you require a longer drop than what is included, contact us at support@treyfarley.com before ordering.

A general rule is one pendant for every 2 feet of island length, with the outermost pendants sitting roughly 6 inches in from each end. For a standard 6-foot island, three pendants spaced evenly works well. For wider pendants or statement pieces, two is often enough. Scale the shade size to the island width — smaller islands suit shades under 12 inches in diameter.

Yes. All pendant lights are hardwired fixtures and must be connected to your existing ceiling wiring. We strongly recommend installation by a licensed electrician to ensure safety and compliance with local codes. Installation hardware and instructions are included with every order.

Dimmability depends on the specific fixture — please refer to the product specifications above. Where dimming is supported, you will need a compatible LED dimmer switch and dimmable LED bulbs. Using a non-compatible dimmer can cause flickering or buzzing.

Bulb type, base size, and maximum wattage are listed in the product specifications. Unless noted otherwise, bulbs are not included. We recommend warm white LED bulbs in the 2700K to 3000K range for the best aesthetic result with our fixtures.
