Where and how high should it be mounted?

Living areas and hallways: mount around 60 to 66 in (152 to 168 cm) from the floor, roughly eye level when standing. Along a hallway, space lights about 8 to 10 ft (2.4 to 3 m) apart. In narrow halls, choose a slim light that sits about 4 in (10 cm) or less from the wall.

Beside a bed: mount it so the light sits just above shoulder height when you're sitting up, for reading without glare.

Replacing the old wall fitting was a small part of our renovation, but I'm pleased we gave it some thought. The stone adds texture and the metal keeps the overall look tidy. Our electrician fitted it during the other electrical work.

Soft glow, lovely finish.

After living with a very basic wall light for years, I wanted something with a bit more texture. The alabaster was the main reason I picked this one. We went for the brass version, although I did spend a while considering the other finishes. Installation was done by our electrician, so I can't say much about that side of it. Visually it sits well beside our bedroom doorway and doesn't feel overly decorative. The natural stone gives it some character, and it works nicely with the softer fabrics we have in there.

Simple enough for our space but still interesting. The brass detail finishes it nicely.
