Modern Globe Outdoor Pillar Light with Glass Shade — IP65

Defined by its spherical lantern-inspired profile, this outdoor pillar light combines a sculptural aluminium frame with a clear glass shade to create a distinctive architectural feature for entrances, gates and landscaped boundaries. Curved metal ribs frame the globe in a decorative, symmetrical pattern, while the finialled top and raised pedestal base give the fixture a more substantial presence than a simple post-mounted light.

Available in black and bronze finishes, the design can move between contemporary and more traditional exterior settings. The clear glass keeps the light source visually open, allowing illumination to travel through the globe while highlighting the decorative framework after dark.

Three sizes make it easier to select a proportion that suits compact fence posts through to larger entrance pillars. An IP65 rating provides protection appropriate for exposed outdoor installations, while the E26/E27 lamp holder allows the bulb to be replaced when required.

Features

  • Decorative Globe Silhouette
The rounded lantern form creates a strong focal point on top of pillars and posts, remaining visually distinctive during both daylight and evening use.
  • Aluminium Frame with Clear Glass
A structured aluminium framework surrounds the glass globe, combining defined architectural lines with an open view of the light source.
  • IP65 Outdoor Protection
The IP65 rating provides protection against dust and water exposure, making the fixture suitable for appropriately installed exterior applications.
  • Three Proportional Sizes
Small, medium and large configurations allow the fixture to be better matched to the scale of the pillar, gate post or boundary feature.
  • Black & Bronze Finish Options
Choose black for a stronger, cleaner architectural contrast or bronze for a warmer, more traditional exterior character.
  • Replaceable E26/E27 Light Source
The standard E26/E27 lamp holder provides flexibility when selecting a compatible replacement bulb rather than relying on a permanently integrated light source.

Size & Placement Guide

For smaller fence posts and compact pillars, the 18 cm / 7.1″ version provides the most restrained proportion. The 22.1 cm / 8.7″ option offers greater visual presence for medium-scale pillars, while the 26.9 cm / 10.6″ version is better suited to substantial entrance columns and larger gate posts.

For symmetrical entrances or driveway gates, using a matching light on each pillar creates a more balanced architectural composition.

Installation Notes

This is a fixed hardwired outdoor fitting. Correct installation is important for maintaining safe operation and outdoor protection, and electrical installation should be completed in accordance with applicable local requirements.

Pillar Light FAQ

Pillar lights are fixtures designed to mount directly onto the top or face of a gate post, fence pillar, or masonry column. They are most commonly used at driveway entrances, front gates, and garden borders to provide both security lighting and a strong architectural statement. They differ from post lights in that they sit on an existing structure rather than a freestanding pole.
Yes. All of our pillar lights carry an IP rating suitable for permanent outdoor exposure. The IP rating for each fixture is listed in the product specifications above. As a general guide, IP44 suits covered or sheltered positions, while IP65 is rated for fully exposed conditions including direct rain.
The base of the pillar light should sit comfortably within the footprint of the post or column it mounts on — ideally no wider than the top surface. For standard brick or stone pillars, a base between 6 and 10 inches suits most residential applications. For larger statement columns, a wider base or lantern-style cap works best. All dimensions are listed in the product specifications above.
Yes. Pillar lights are hardwired fixtures that require connection to your existing outdoor wiring, which is typically routed up through the post or column. We strongly recommend installation by a licensed electrician to ensure safe wiring, correct weatherproofing of all connections, and compliance with local electrical codes. Installation hardware and instructions are included with every order.
Bulb type, base size, and maximum wattage are listed in the product specifications. Unless noted otherwise, bulbs are not included. We recommend warm white LED bulbs in the 2700K to 3000K range for the most welcoming entrance ambiance and best energy efficiency.
Materials vary by fixture and are detailed in each product listing. Our pillar lights are built for permanent outdoor installation — using materials such as powder-coated aluminum, stainless steel, solid brass, and tempered glass. All finishes are designed to resist rust, corrosion, and UV fading under normal outdoor conditions.
Please photograph the packaging and the damaged item as soon as you notice the issue, and contact us at support@treyfarley.com within 7 days of delivery. We will arrange a replacement or full refund at no cost to you. Every pillar light is covered by our 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Really like the combination of glass and aluminium. A well balanced little detail that fits in with the surrounding garden.

Exactly the simple style I wanted.

The aluminium lower section is my part I like most. It gives the glass a nice contrast, pretty really satisfied with the overall look.

From the driveway this looks nicely proportioned. Nothing overdone, just a simple outdoor fitting.

Replacing the older lantern changed the feel of our garden entrance. This has a more simple look, which works with the rest of the house. We kept the planting and house number as they were, and the new light still fits in comfortably.

What caught my attention was the clear glass. I wanted something that looked open rather than a solid block sitting on the pillar. This has the right balance for our entrance, and the metal base keeps the shape looking grounded.

A pair of these was the finishing detail we wanted for the entrance. I liked the clear glass because it leaves the overall shape looking light, rather than making the pillars feel top heavy. The aluminium base adds enough definition to stop the design looking too delicate. We considered a few more decorative options, but this simpler shape felt better with our house. Seeing the entrance once daylight fades is now one of my favourite parts of coming home.

Having tried to make the garden entrance look more cohesive, I realised the old light was one of the things letting it down. This one has a tidy look that works with the existing gate and paving. My favourite detail is the contrast between the clear shade and the metal underneath. It looks good from the street as well as when you're standing nearby. We're quite pleased with the choice, although I'd recommend checking the dimensions against your pillar before ordering.

Lovely glass, very understated.

J

Nothing fancy here, which was the appeal for me. We wanted an outdoor light that would sit comfortably with the other outdoor details. The shape does that well and the clear shade doesn't make the entrance look crowded. nice change from what we had before.

Looks great beside the gate

Our outdoor space feels more finished now. The glass shade gives the fitting a lighter appearance than our old light.

For our front entrance update, I spent a fair bit of time choosing between traditional lantern shapes and something more modern. This felt like a sensible middle ground for our house. The clear glass shade keeps the fitting visually open, while the base of the fitting gives it a definite shape. It complements the nearby greenery without competing with everything else. We've kept the rest of the entrance fairly simple, and this has been a worthwhile addition.

Initially I worried that clear glass might look too plain. In place, it has enough detail to feel considered without becoming the main thing you notice. The aluminium and glass work nicely together. I'm pleased with how it looks during daylight as well.

Charlie Wright

After refreshing the planting along the front path, we wanted a light that would fit the new look without requiring us to change the rest of the entrance. The simple shape and glass shade were what drew me to this one. In position, it feels in proportion with the surrounding wall and greenery. I also appreciate that its daytime appearance is just as considered as its appearance in the evening. Overall it's been a lovely update, we're both delighted with how the space has come together.
