Bathroom Light FAQ
For the most flattering and shadow-free light, mount the fixture above the mirror with the centre of the light sitting at around 75 to 80 inches from the floor. If your bathroom layout allows, side-mounted sconces at either side of the mirror at eye level — around 60 to 65 inches from the floor — provide even better face lighting with minimal shadows. Avoid mounting directly above a recessed medicine cabinet, as this can cast unflattering downward shadows.
For a fixture mounted above a mirror, aim for a bar that is roughly 75 to 80 percent of the mirror's width — wide enough to light the full face evenly without extending beyond the mirror's edges. For double vanities, either use one long bar spanning the full width or two separate fixtures centred above each sink. All dimensions are listed in the product specifications above.
Yes. All of our vanity lights are suitable for bathroom installation in Zone 2 and dry or damp-rated areas as specified per fixture. The damp or wet rating for each light is listed in the product specifications above. For fixtures positioned directly above or inside a shower enclosure, a wet-rated IP65 fixture is required — please check the specifications before purchasing.
Yes. Vanity lights are hardwired fixtures that must be connected to your existing bathroom wiring. Given the presence of moisture in a bathroom environment, we strongly recommend installation by a licensed electrician to ensure safety, correct weatherproofing of all connections, and compliance with local electrical codes. Installation hardware and instructions are included with every order.
Bulb type, base size, and maximum wattage are listed in the product specifications. Unless noted otherwise, bulbs are not included. For vanity lighting we recommend bulbs in the 2700K to 3000K range — warm enough to be flattering without the clinical feel of cooler white light. A CRI of 90 or above will give the most accurate colour rendering for grooming tasks.
Dimmability depends on the specific fixture — please refer to the product specifications above. Where dimming is supported, you will need a compatible LED dimmer switch and dimmable LED bulbs. Dimming is particularly useful in a bathroom setting for adjusting between bright task lighting and softer ambient light.
