Pillar light FAQs
Good to know
How to choose, power and install your pillar light, and what to expect when you order.
Will it fit my post or pillar?
Pillar lights mount on top of an existing gate post, fence pillar or column, unlike post lights, which come with their own pole.
The base should sit within the top of your post, ideally no wider than its top surface. For most brick or stone pillars, a base of 6 to 10 in (15 to 25 cm) works well, while larger statement columns suit a wider base. Full dimensions are listed on this page.
Is it weatherproof?
Yes, it's made for outdoor use. Check the IP rating on this page: IP44 suits covered or sheltered spots, while IP65 handles direct rain on fully exposed posts.
Solar or hardwired: how is it installed?
This page shows which power options this light comes in.
Solar: no wiring is needed. It charges in daylight, so mount it where the panel gets direct sun.
Hardwired: it connects to outdoor wiring run up through the post, so we recommend installation by a licensed electrician, who'll also seal the connections against the weather. It runs from your switch, and your electrician can add a dusk sensor or timer.
Will it work with my home's power supply?
Yes. This light runs on 110V to 240V, so it suits homes in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.
How long does delivery take?
